Nothing lasts forever But while it's here I'm forever grateful
For *glaciesClOvEr's contest My theme was Gift of Life
Hmm... so this what effort and patience feels like... I never want to try it again /coughs blood
Special thanks to *miinji for putting up with me helping me base colour when all was lost ahahaa ;
----- I was reading the first book, Genesis again a couple weeks ago. Despite everything going downhill from chapter 2 on, it's just an absolutely beautiful book in the Bible- I can read it again and again and never grow tired of it. There is quiet and eternity in a mere "7 days"; it just gives me a very surreal and mellow feeling every time I read the very beginning from where a time was pure and patient. The world and its animals were created at a blink of an eye with one word, yet man was personally hand-crafted by God Himself to perfection, to rule over the earth He made. As easy as life is given, it is taken away just as easily. Anyways.. -----
So here you go, you're blessed with the gift of life!
That, and I love all of Glacy's characters so I had to draw more than one. EVEN IF I DON'T WIN WILL YOU STILL DRAW ME SOMETHING?
Oh how lovely! You did a fantastic job with this piece. Wonderful use of color and the hint of movement. There is so much emotion in this picture, I'm torn as to whether I should feel happy or sad. It's absolutely beautiful.
Also, I was surprised with the artist's comments. Many artists don't openly admit to being religious or reading the Bible. I'm very impressed with that. I agree as well-Genesis is an incredible book. To be honest, sometimes I look at a sunrise and wish that I had even the tiniest bit of God's creativity. Each one is so brilliantly unique, and it's impossible to recreate. Even photographs of sunrises, though breathtaking, do not capture the true beauty of that moment. And to think how much thought God put into man, into each INDIVIDUAL, is incredible. What an awesome and powerful God. I'm not sure what you meant by part of the composition being off though...
I must admit your comment made me smile haha God is real, God is good, there is no shame in expressing awesomeness! I know what you mean; I probably have some sort of sky fetish- I can just stare at it all day and not get bored. Doesn't the sky look like a painting to you? The clouds and colours seems so surreal compared to the earth, it's like a giant canvas that stretch across the sky as a background. Haha it's very mindblowing if we think about it Our God is an awesome God! Yah I should take that off, I just felt that the balance/focus of the piece was planned and done badly. Always room for improvement
I agree wholeheartedly. The sky is amazing, whether it be sunrise, sunset, at night, or during the day. And it's interesting that you say that, for I have often thought of it as a giant canvas as well! I love that it changes so quickly, and that it looks entirely different depending on where you are in the world at that time. I consider it a kind of "living art," although that might not be the right way to think about it...
Well, artists are never COMPLETELY satisfied with their work. They can always find something that they wish they had done differently. Yet for some reason, artists don't typically go back to adjust a picture that they "completed" a long time ago. Art is never finished, just abandoned. It's strange, isn't it?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so |D The sky just looks surreal at times, especially when half of it is yellow,orange,pink,red and it gradients to purple,green,blue on the other side. I've always thought of the sky as God's canvas /islameIknow
HAHA so true! I've never thought about it that way before- art being 'abandoned' constantly. The reason why I never bother changing it is because I spent so long drawing it, and if I were to change even the slightest thing I'll have to redraw basically the whole thing over again. By then I would have become bored of the concept/image of the picture
Sorry for taking so long to reply! With exams, work and stuff the reply pile that's accumulated is quite intimidating xD;
Likewise! It's nice to find someone who thinks the same way as I do. On the other hand though, it makes me feel terribly unoriginal.
I feel the same way about my pictures. It's frustrating, because I look at something old and think, "This had so much potential," but I never go back and fix it or redraw it. Such a shame.
This is such a beautiful pic. The vibrant yet mellowed out colors. It gives a very surreal feeling to it. To me anyway. But that's a good thing. Seems almost...tranquil. I like it quite a bit. Great job.
Good luck!
